The same or similar images taken by anyone else:"Uh, maybe a little too over-processed", "why not turn down the photoshop", "we would like to see the original".

On this day, let us remember the great adventurer and photographer Galen Rowell. His contributions to photography were substantial, and we all miss his insights.

On this day, let us also scorn those who would ride on the coat tail's of Galen's memory & reputation to stake out their own career. People such as Marc Adamus are a shameful reflection of our fame-obsessed world.

Marc went as far as to launch his new website on August the 11th, 2008, claiming to do so in memory of Galen. With a large "rest in peace Galen" banner across the top, Marc established that he had entered the room and would take over from Galen, now. Here's a screenshot from his news link for the THUGS & MORONS who deny he orchestrated this launch:

As decent people, we all have an obligation to fight this sort of cynical baiting & opinion-molding. Don't let Marc get away with his years-long propaganda project, an effort that would have made Goebbels proud!

Marc Adamus looking to get into 8x10 film photography (laughter)...what's the occasion Marc??

So now Marc Adamus is interested in 8x10 film photography? What's up Marc? In your own words, your old 5D blew away 6x7 medium format and rivaled (laughter) 4x5 film. According to that logic, your 1DS "Marc" 3 should "blow away" 4x5 film. What was that, Marc? Caught in your own lie?

We suspect that once Marc is done with his BS processing (in addition to his sometimes faulty shooting technique), there's not a lot of sharpness or detail left in his digital images. Remember that his Capture Gallery images were basically 16x20's in oversized 30x40 frames, and even then, they weren't particularly sharp. Pretty shameful, and also indicative that when Marc claimed the 5D blew away medium format, he knew very well that it didn't.

We think that Great Marc is looking for a "mentor" in order to shoot his 8x10's for him, the same way ghost writers write books for untalented politicians and rich people. He'll take all the credit, give the real photographer a one on one Photo Tour for his troubles, and swim in the glory of finally "proving" that he knows what he's doing with film (he doesn't; see HERE).

We look forward to Marc embarrassing himself with this venture. Bring it on!

MORE LIES: Marc LIED about Lake Ann in the North Cascades!

MORE LIES from Marc Adamus, this time discovered in old material on Photosig.com, a site he abandoned due to being unable to control opinions and comments on his images (typical Marc Adamus style...if you can't receive 10 out of 10 from every viewer, cut & run like a coward).

Anyway, check this out:

First, Marc starts off his post with an epic amount of bullshit, making this relatively easy hike sound like some epic Himalayan trek. He even throws in gratuitous lies about having a lot of experience hiking "off-trail" in the North Cascades (laughter).

Then a concerned Photosig member calls out some of his shit, and Marc goes into the familiar defensive pattern we're all familiar with (ie, I don't remember what I've said in the past, I do what I want, etc etc). You can clearly tell that Marc is bristling at having been exposed, and he's stomping all over this fellow. You can also tell that Marc expects his words to be the FINAL words on the matter, and they are until we uncovered this little scandal.

More importantly, he added another LIE in his little "tirade". He stated that the hike was "about 5 miles in". This is a RIDICULOUSLY transparent lie! The official hike distance is 4.1 miles (USFS, Lake Ann trail).

Now, there's no question about how long the trail is. Marc could have just said "4.1 miles", which is the exact distance to the lake. None of us know how 4.1 miles turns into 5 miles, but there you have it. A heavily used trail to a frequently visited lake, practically described as being in the middle of some Alaskan wilderness. Frankly, we're surprised that he didn't get more flack over this sort of garbage. Also notice how several more people legitimately called out his bogus composition, but Marc brushed them off, basically explaining that he spent hours studying the landscape to find the absolute BEST comp (remember that once Marc photographs anything, his images become the Gold Standard for that location).

More bullshit and more LIES from the Prince of Lying. Another day in the life of Marc Adamus!

Whenever Marc is called out on a particularly juicy chunk of bullshit, he starts whining and complaining about how everyone is attacking him for no reason whatsoever, etc. A choice phrase of his is:

I have never intentionally misled anyone

which actually, when you think about, is a pretty creepy thing to say. It means that yes, Marc does mislead people, but never intentionally. We wonder if this is Marc's subconscious blaring?

Of course, according to a genuis like Rick Lundh, you should not read what Marc says or assume it's meant seriously. You should simply just look at his images, love Marc unconditionally, and remember, if you don't like Marc's images, you're a moron.

Now that August 11th is coming up, it's good to remember that Marc Adamus has always seen himself as continuing where Galen Rowell left off (laughter). As many of you remember, when he launched his website on the 11th of August 2008, he had a banner on the frontpage that said "rest in peace Galen". Kind of creepy, don't you think? Here's a guy with no connection to Galen Rowell who decided to write this up a mere 6 years after Galen died. He obviously forgot to add to the banner "I'll take it from here, Galen".

Of course, when called on his bullshit, Marc always claims that it's "ridiculous" that he is tying himself to Galen in such a matter. Never mind that he named his son "Galen". We suppose that was a big coincidence, too. We don't think that Gary Crabbe, a close friend of Galen's, would name his child "Galen". Neither did any other friend of Galen's do this. It would clearly be insulting and an attempt to ride on Galen's coattails. Hey, if Marc has a daughter, will he name her "Barbara"?

Marc constantly claims he's published in Outdoor Photographer & Popular Photography...so what?

Whenever Marc needs to pull out the big guns to impress THUGS & MORONS, he says something like the following:

I have recently been published in Outdoor Photographer, DPN, Popular Photography, and National Geographic.

Let's go over that:

1. So he's been "published" (and we use that term loosely) in a rag like Outdoor Photography. What's that doing for him? He didn't even get paid for it. Instead, he just mailed in dozens of 8x10's until they finally published him just to get rid of him. Worse, he usually just shows up in the "showcase" section. Real accomplishment there, Marc!

2. DPN is another amateur photography rag. Being published here impresses loser amateurs, but it's another no-pay job that's only useful for adding awards to pump up your credibility.

3. Popular Photography is as low as you can go in photography publishing. Not only does it pay very little to nothing, it doesn't reach anyone who buys images. Only amateurs and wanna-be's read this magazine, mostly to see if one of their "friends" made it somewhere in the showcase.

4. Marc Adamus wasn't actually published in National Geographic's magazine. He placed in one of their online contests, and he vaguely defined this as being "published" in Nat Geo. Talk about lies and exaggerating!

Following up on our post about Marc's Crater Lake "adventure", we see that he has still not posted any proof that he actually did trek around Crater Lake. No surprise there. If Marc Adamus had proof, he would have posted it. No doubt of that. Well, we are not surprised! Marc has a long history of inventing huge "adventures" to wow MORONS & LOSERS like Ryan Dyar, Jesse Estes, John Lemkuhl, Mark Metternich, Bryan Swan, and others.

This simply makes us wonder what other "adventures" are just LIES & INVENTIONS designed to sell workshops, photo tours, and the occasional print (the only people who buy Marc Adamus prints are losers like Ryan Dyar).

What has Marc Adamus ever done for Wilderness? Nothing but mouth off to benefit himself!

We all know what Marc likes to say in any interview, or on his website:

We desperately NEED wilderness...we, I, whatever, need it so badly...I am so incredibly passionate about Wilderness, I think of nothing else.

I want to be very Famous, but only so I can advocate for Wilderness.

And so on. Despite the constant claptrap about "Wilderness", you will find that Marc does nothing to follow up on his boastful, "empty passion" words. For a couple months, he claimed he was donating 1 or 1.5% of sales to the Sierra Club or some other organization. Then, he took that down. Obviously, 1% was far too much for an "incredibly successful" photographer like Marc.

Now, we know that Marc doesn't participate in trail work, wilderness advocacy, or speeches for environmental groups. How do we know that? If he had, the whole world would have known within the hour, so fervently Pro-Marc is the endless sea of THUGS that support him.

And if he did do any of this, he'd probably ask for money, just like when he was charging $175 to look at people's photography and calling it a "portfolio evaluation".

What will this LIAR come up with next?

Marc Adamus: nothing more than a glorified hiker! This guy's no "adventurer"!

Remember how Marc likes to say that he is a Big time "adventurer"? LIES again! Marc is nothing more than a glorified hiker. There are many NW hikers who have done stuff far more gruesome that Marc Adamus, but they wouldn't dream of calling themselves "adventurers". That won't stop Marc, however! When he's got a band of thugs making threats and attacking any attempt to expose him, Marc feels pretty safe exaggerating his pitiful "adventures" into world-class features.

Ever notice how Marc Adamus has never been featured in a real adventure magazine? These publications are constantly looking for their next story. They certainly wouldn't pass up Marc Adamus, and Marc Adamus certainly wouldn't pass them up, if he was the real thing. Marc doesn't qualify, however. It's one thing to lie on your website and a bunch of forums, making yourself look like "one of the most accomplished wilderness adventurers" (his words, insanely enough). It's another to sit in front of the editor, mind working furiously to generate lies to back up your bullshit.

Yet another episode of hot air, empty words, and bullshit. Another day in the life of Marc Adamus.

We call on photographers to BOYCOTT Photographic Techniques Magazine for their unalloyed advertisement-like coverage of Marc Adamus

What happened to honest and honorable journalism? Marc Adamus had a little self-praising expose in the latest Photographic Techniques Magazine. The whole article was little more than soundbites and propaganda clips from his various websites. Apparently, the editor didn't feel it necessary to check any of Marc's wild statements.

The only plus is that this is simply more of the same from Marc: Get editors to run clearly biased articles that make him sound like a pure, unadulterated God of photography, while throwing in some more propaganda on love of wilderness/etc.

We call on all subscribers to END their subscriptions and let the editors know that a FAKE & FRAUD like Marc Adamus doesn't belong in a magazine of this caliber. Our own subscription was cancelled immediately when we saw this pathetic piece of work.

This image was claimed to have been taken as part of a "5 day, 30 mile backpack" around the rim. As Eric Hut has been to Crater Lake recently, on vacation, he remembered this image and drove around the rim, evaluating the possibility of Marc's claims. We have all concluded that his supposed trip never occcured and was another stunning LIE. Why?

1. This image is taken from the rim close to the hotel. So, if Marc's "trip" did occur, it would have been the only image taken at the end or the beginning of the trip. During an actual 5 day trip, many more images would probably have been taken.

2. The road to the hotel is plowed all winter long, meaning any one can drive up there and snowshoe to this location with a minimum of difficulty.

3. Crater Lake experiences dangerous, stormy winters and there is no winter maintenance of the Rim Drive for most of the year.

4. It is widely known that the best photographic vantages are close to the hotel, and the Rim Drive has few favorable positions for shooting.

5. The Rim Drive rarely provides views of the lake, meaning that Marc would be needlessly snowshoeing through forests 3/4 of the time.

6. A real trip around the rim in the winter would have been an impressive feat that would have Marc selling the story to multiple magazines. However, Marc has been very quiet about it, except for the single Photo.net comment, because he has no evidence that he actually did it.

Yet another disappointing, LIE-filled, self-promoting feature by Marc Adamus! We're frankly amazed that no one has yet commented on how unlikely it was that Marc actually did this trip. Well, remember, what would Marc do? Lie, cheat, and steal, of course.

Remember: Marc is not a real photographer. Heck, in 2007, he was a part-time bartender!

Remember that Marc Adamus hasn't been "professional" for a very long time. In 2006 and 2007, according to his own account, he was serving drinks in some Corvallis dive (and, of course, playing pool professionally, no doubt). On Timecatcher.com, he lists his professional experience as "9 years" (laughter). What a joke!

Some of the THUGS & MORONS have been shooting for longer than Marc has, but yet they are STILL taking photo tours and workshops from him.

Marc doesn't really make money from selling images or prints. However, that's what he'd want you to think! The whole point of his workshops is to imply that by taking one, you too can become wildly successful like Marc and become a full time landscape photographer. If you believe that, we've also got a bridge you may be interested in.

When Marc received his Canon 5D and started Photoshopping the Heck out of his images, he also started receiving less interest from editors & magazines. In fact, when was the last time you saw a Marc Adamus image published anywhere? (Loser magazines like Outdoor Photographer & Popular Photography don't count; they don't even pay for publishing images).

While Marc worried about the lack of editorial interest, he also noticed that THUGS & MORONS such as Kevin Mcneal, Adrian Klein, and Jesse Estes desperately wanted to know how to "shoot like Marc". He found out that selling workshops made up the slack in his cash flow, and each workshop sold out increased the number of losers signing up for the next one.

So, think a moment, will you? If Marc can't sell his Photoshopped images in great enough quantities to make a living, what makes you IDIOTS (speaking only of Marc worshippers here) believe that there's a market for 10 to 20 additionaly exact copies of Marc's work out there? Put down the crack pipe, please, MORONS.

Ever wonder where Marc's money comes from? You'd think that it would come from licensing images and selling prints. However, you'd be wrong. The majority of his income comes from selling workshops & "photo tours" to IDIOTS & THUGS who desperately (translated into "passionately") want to be like him, or at least, they want to be the particular Marc Adamus portrayed by his long campaign of lying & propaganda.

Marc Adamus himself has admitted that he sells "3 to 5" images a month from his website. Knowing his proclivity for lying & stretching the truth, let's readjust that to "2 to 3" images a month. You can check out his comment below:

He also suggests that he offers refunds to anyone "not satisfied" with his prints. Hmm, if he's one of the "most critically acclaimed photographers of his time" and surely the best photographer in the world, according to his THUG buddies, why would anyone be unsatisfied with his prints? Anyway, say maybe $700-800 gross a month from prints, at the very most. The rest comes from the numerous workshops he sells, where he promises the earth, sky, and how to shoot like him, to any MORON stupid enough to plunk down the cash. No refunds on a workshop, we're sure!

So remember, next time you admire Marc Adamus, he doesn't really make any money from photography. He just makes money from idiots who want to shoot like him because they think he makes a lot of money from selling images & prints. Boy, that's some convulated thinking, eh?

Worse, Marc had eight years to be a decent film photographer, but completely and utterly failed. Pretend you're Ryan Dyar or Jesse Estes, or another loser whose website is full of vain pretense and sad attempts at "passion" for wilderness or whatever line they're using these days. How much do you pay to go out on a workshop and copy one of Marc's "unmistakeable" compositions? Let's take the seemingly ever popular Owen's River shot:

-5D Mark II: $2700
-16-35mm version 2: $1450
-Tripod & tripod head: approx $300
-Copy of Photoshop CS3 or CS4: appro $600
-Gas to drive to the Sierras & back in a medium SUV like a Explorer: approx $300
-Cost of 4-5 nights in a hotel: approx $400-500
-Of course, cost of Marc's Photo Tour: About $700

This doesn't even include all costs, but if you were one day struck with passion and decided to copy Marc's Owen River shot, it would cost you approximately $7000. Money you'll make from "selling" fine-art prints of your precious copy of Marc's Image, safely stored on your Smugmug or Zenfolio site: it's safe to say zero.

Hello to all. It's been an interesting several months since we started the MarcAdamusLIES.com Network. What started as a small project to document the malfeasance of a single photographer has grown into a much larger undertaking than any of us ever imagined. Today, the Network spans one website, five blogs, and with more to come in the future. We've documented Marc Adamus' primary lies & coverups with due diligence, and we appreciate the support we've received.

It's heartening to know that not everyone has fallen for the lies spun by Marc Adamus. A prominent exception, however, is Gary Crabbe. A longtime friend, I deeply admired Gary's commitment to honesty & customer service. The recent Marc Adamus debacle has forced me to reevaluate that friendship, and we have since drifted apart.

MarcAdamusLIES.com has received multiple threats, has been attacked, slandered, and otherwise defamed on multiple venues, and its creators have seen friendships crumble and relationships strained. However, none of this will weaken our resolve. I am more certain than ever that our mission is true, just, and an obligation to all photographers. I can only hope that one day we can reestablish the trust & honesty that our industry used to enjoy among the public. The water is quite deep there, up to the neck in places, and the current strong, especially with a lot of runoff. Water in the 40's can cause hypothermia in a matter of minutes. An update on the Sausalito Fiasco we reported earlier:

Apparently, the images in Capture's gallery are the first editions. That is, since August 2008, they haven't sold a single Marc Adamus print! Incredible! For a man who's supposed to be the "best landscape photographer in the world", it's funny that an established gallery was unable to sell even one of his images. It's no wonder Marc is hiding his work in backwaters like Dallas, OR, and Fields, OR (laughter). No one wants his Photoshopped garbage!

This is a truly stunning development. Thanks to an email from a Bay Area reader, we've discovered that Marc Adamus has even LIED about his supposed "permanent display" at the Capture Gallery in Sausalito, CA. From our reader:

"I was pretty darn curious about Marc's images after hearing so much about their high quality on various forums. I was even more curious when I found MarcAdamusLIES.com. Decided to make the trip from San Jose to Sausalito to see exactly what all the ruckus was about. When I got there, I didn't see his images anywhere. The employees told me that they actually hosted a couple of his images at their Healdsburg, CA, location. This is a little town almost two hours north of Sausalito. I was pretty upset at this point, but since I had the whole day off, I drove to Healdsburg and checked the prints out.

Was pretty disappointed after all the internet hyperbole. The images were barely bigger than 16x20's and they were placed in enormous, oversized frames to make them look bigger. They looked better on his website than they did in real life. All the other work was large format and totally blew Marc's images away, in terms of quality, and none of the other images had half-foot frames to make them look bigger. He only had three of his older images there, but none of the new stuff he's really proud of.

I'm sad to say that this was a big disappointment, and I would not have good things to say about Marc after this experience..."

We at MarcAdamusLIES.com are only surprised at the audacity of lying about where his images were displayed. We're not surprised at the rest of the report. 1. Position your camera for the composition. Ensure the composition is exactly the same as Marc's (including aligning tripod legs with the holes left by Marc's last photo there), or fines & jail time may result.

2. Raise the tripod enough for you to squat underneath it.

3. Expose the polarizer and pull off your pants.

4. Hopefully, you've eaten a big meal that includes potatoes or beans. Take a big breath and release a thunderous fart. You're in Wilderness, so no one will care. If it doesn't echo for at least five seconds, you need to try again. Coat the entire surface of the filter with the gases.

5.Take that award-winning stunner! Don't tell anyone how you do it until you're at least as famous as Marc Adamus is!

1. Bryan Swan isn't much of an artist. Sure, he's pretty good at documenting the obscure and not-so-obscure waterfalls of the NW (with some major omissions, by the way). But an artist? No sir.

2. Do you really want to take images that look like Bryan Swan's images? This guy gets lucky once in a while & scores something decent, which he then proceeds to massacre in Photoshop, but being a great photographer is a lot more than having some luck & having the latest version of Photoshop.

3. Bryan Swan is a pawn of Marc Adamus, a worst-case nutcase, really. If you feel that paying $500 (or whatever he's charging) for the privilege of being stuck in their powerplay against MarcAdamusLIES.com is worth it, by all means, be our guest.

4. He will constantly talk your head off about Marc Adamus and all his supposedly invented "techniques", urging you to use them in order to "piss off" the people at MarcAdamusLIES.com. He also uses them on his own images, often to bad effect, by the way.

5. #4 means that he has no style of his own and will not encourage you to develop your own style, which is what photography (and art) is all about. We already have enough idiots copying Marc Adamus to fill a stadium.

6. And finally, he's an unemployed loser. Worse, an unemployed, Homosexual loser. Here's Bryan Swan admitting he's unemployed:
